About Nepal

Nepal is the Federal Democratic Republic landlocked sovereign nation located in South Asia. It covers 147,181 square kilometers of area and approximately 28.6 millions of population. It is located in the Himalayas and bordered to the north by the People's Republic of China, and to the south, east, and west by the Republic of India. It is divided into three regions Mountains, Hills and Terai.

All eight highest mountains (out of ten) in the world are situated in Nepal, including Mount Everest (8848m above the sea level) which is the highest mountain in the world. Nepal is a mountainous country with full of natural resources, fast-flowing rivers and streams, flora & fauna and with range of cultures and traditions from different regions. Lord Gautam Buddha also known as light of Asia was born in Kapilvastu, Lumbini.

World heritage sites such as Pashupatinath, Swoyambhunath, Kathmandu Durbar Square, Bhaktapur Durbar Square, Patan Durbar Square, Janakpur Janaki Temple Changu Narayan Temple are our major attraction for the Tourists. Pokhara, Chitwan, Dolpa, Mustang are other major tourist destinations.

Agriculture is the main occupation of our country. About 80% people are engaged in agriculture farming for their livelihood. Tourism and Remittance are the two strong sources of income.
